Entrenched

Entrenched

I weeded my flower bed today, sweet friend, and I thought of you.

I have such great plans for it.

In the warm sunshine of my yard, I will plant

pink sweet peas, and

fresh lavender, and

orangey calendula, and

fragrant rosemary, and

an absolute riot of purple clematis.

And as it all grows together, I will sit two chairs and a table

and we’ll have frozen lemonade and cookies,

and enjoy the colours,

and the mingling scents,

and we’ll watch the butterflies and the bees have their share.

First, I must deal with the weeds.

In my zeal, I could pull at them with my hands

but that would only snap off their long taproots,

and leave bits behind to grow back

and spread.

Vigilance is required.

For hours, I dug around the bottom

of every single weed and rooted them out.

Bearing down on the trowel over and over gave me a blister

but it was worth the pain,

for I was determined to have a lovely garden.

Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Matthew 15:13

Absolutely awesome poetry…(pffft…’bad poetry’ my foot) Loved it. And as one of your friends, I fully intend to come and drink some pink lemonade and take in the beauty with you!

There is nothing better than gardening with the Creator … I often think of verses that refer to planting when I am gardening. It is like I am a little child in the garden with my Daddy, trying to mimic his gentle, intentional movements … even in the week eliminating.
