It’s fantastic, but…don’t mess with formula
Once I start reading a book, I forget everything else. A new book to me is a bit like the chocolate cake on the counter. If it were possible, I would eat the whole thing, all at once. I don’t know...

I love it when I’m right
I was sitting on my bedroom sofa this morning, as is my daily writing ritual: pad and paper in hand, coffee mug perched on the windowsill....
I am Queen of the World!
So I’ve come to the end of my running odyssey, and I find it ironic that at the end of this program, I find myself running 10K alone—on my treadmill—just the way I started....
Would it help if I cried?
A young guy, dressed all in black (with a piercing in an unusual place), walked up to my book signing table at a local store tonight to say hello. He picked up my book and turned it over....
Hurts so good
I read once in a beginning runner’s handbook that one shouldn’t try to increase distance and speed at the same time, but I appear to have broken that rule....
Four-letter words
I believe all parents have the right to embarrass their children. It’s going to happen anyway, so why not plan for it? To this end, I’ve recently begun peppering my language with a few four-lette...

Something wicked this way comes
Last week, the long, slow distance requirement (tens and ones) was 8 kilometres. I really tried, but I could only manage 7.6. My huffing and puffing brought me so close and yet so far. But I did it t...
ABOUT ME
Professional Highlight Reel
I am a Moncton, New Brunswick-based freelance writer and self-publisher with 20 + years of experience in public relations writing, and promotional work for non-profit, government and business. I am a versatile communicator who focuses mostly on general business and topics of human interest. A skilled interviewer, I can distil information taken from industry experts into a digestible format for a wide range of audiences. I am currently serving as Executive Director for the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick.
I am a born-and-raised New Brunswicker, wife of 30 years, mother to three grown-up kids. I love to paint, sing, bake, hike (after I eat what I bake). I like camping in the rain. I’d like to hike the Fundy Footpath, but I hear it’s challenging.
I love historical fiction, fantasy/science fiction, dystopian and the biographies of interesting people. And a really, really good love story never goes amiss.
Current personal project
A novel set on the Bay of Fundy, and a whole pile of half-finished short stories.
Here you can check out my books, available for purchase, and you can read my blog posts on the writing life, a little bit of fiction, plus some family & personal stuff. I hope you find something here to entertain, challenge or inspire you.
